Ben Tre which is a plain province located in the downstream Mekong River borders the South China Sea with 65 km of coastline. It is accreted by 4 major rivers namely Tien Giang, Ba Lai, Ham Luong, Co Chien and divided into 3 large islands:
- • An Hoa Isle (including Chau Thanh and Binh Dai District).
- • Bao Isle (including Ben Tre City, Giong Trom and Ba Tri District).
- • Minh Isle (including Cho Lach Mo Cay Nam, Mo Cay Bac, Thanh Phu District).
Ben Tre Province which is in the southwest has two distinct seasons (6 months rain and 6 months of sunshine). It has good weather and interlaced systems of rivers and canals making a potential ecotourism that is characterized by the Southern Area, with luxuriant orchards, coconuts, as well as alluvial lands which provide favorable conditions for the production of seedlings to supply for other provinces in our country and neighbor countries.

It locates in Tan Thach Commune, Chau Thanh District on an island floating on Tien River. Visitors can go along the dunes to the visit coconut candy company, souvenirs made from plants and shells, etc. Traveling by horse wagon, tourists can visit many orchards and stop to rest under coconut thatched houses to drink honey tea, taste tropical fruits and listen to traditional music of the Southern Area.
There are many souvenirs: from red or green masks, picture frames, three-wheel vehicle, to kitchen utensils such as cups, bowls, spoons, spoons ... mostly made from coconut.
Con Oc (Con Hung Phong), locating in Hung Phong Commune, Giong Trom District, has many coconut plantations and orchards.
Con Tien, lying in Tien Long Commune, Chau Thanh District, is a beautiful sandy beach. On the 5th May of the lunar calendar, this area attracts thousands of tourists from everwhere. Some people also call this "Vung Tau 2". Currently, this place is invested to become a place of catfish and black-wing mussel.
Vam Ho Bird Sanctuary
Belonging to My Hoa and Tan Xuan Commune, Ba Tri district, Vam Ho is home to nearly 500,000 storks, cauldrons and other wild birds. It also attracts tourists with palm forests and abundant vegetation including trees such as guava, bean, soursop, coconut water, dates, sea spinach, etc.
Coming to Vam Ho bird sanctuary, tourists can walk in the forest, canoe in mangroves, visit the resistance base, pass the bamboo bridge, lean back on a hammock under the shade of the tree and breath the fresh air of Ba Lai River.

Cai Mon Orchards and Flowers is famous for Cai Mon durian in Vinh Thanh Commune, Cho Lach District. In all seasons, tourists can enjoy fruits. Annually, Cai Mon village supplies for the market millions of seedlings of all kinds such as durian, mangosteen, mango, longan, rambutan and citrus.
Cai Mon is also home to many artists, creating ornamental shapes of animals such as: elk, deer, dragon, phoenix. Products are sold in Thu Duc, Bien Hoa, ... and exported to other countries in Southeast Asia.
There are also river cruises on Thua Duc Beach of Binh Dai and other beach such as Ngao Beach in Ba Tri district, Con Bung Beach which is put into exploitation in Thanh Phu District.
There are two major festivals in Ben Tre including Phu Le and Nghinh Ong festival.
Phu Le Court which is in Phu Khuong Hamlet, Ba Tri District, Ben Tre, worships Thanh Hoang Bon Canh. Annually, the festival takes place twice: Ky Yen festival on June 18th , March 19th to pray for good weather and Cau Bong ceremony on October 9th , November 10th of lunar calendar for the lush season. There is a parade in the festival to show the worship Thanh Hoang, who had publicly helped to cutivate. At night, there are Boi and Don Ca Tai Tu singing.
The festival is a popular celebration of the coastal villages of Vietnam, including Ben Tre. Every year on June 16th of the lunar calendar, all the temples or shrines of the communes in Binh Dai, Ba Tri District open this festival. During the festival, all fishing boats are moored to focus on ritual, play and eat.

The places of worship in Ben Tre
Famous pagodas in Ben Tre are Tuyen Linh and Vien Minh Pagoda.
Hoi Ton Pagoda was built in the 18th century in the hamlet 8, Quoi Son Commune, Chau Thanh District and was renovated in 1805, 1884, 1947 and 1992. Tuyen Linh pagoda was built in 1861 in Village Tan Quoi Dong B, Minh Duc commune, Mo Cay District, and was renovated and expanded in 1924, 1941, 1983.
Vien Minh Pagoda is located at 156, Nguyen Dinh Chieu Street, Ben Tre city. The architecture was built from 1951 to 1959.
Besides, Ben Tre was the resting place of many historical figures such as Mr. Nguyen Dinh Chieu, Vo Truong Toan and Phan Thanh Gian, Tran Van, Nguyen Thi Dinh. It is hometown of the famous scholar Truong Vinh Ky (Cai Mon hamlet, Vinh Thanh Commune, Cho Lach District, Ben Tre Province).
It is a festival of coconut which is held in Ben Tre Province. The festival was held over 3 times in 2009, 2010 and 2012. The first period was held with the local scale, while in 2012 it was celebrated with national scale. Coconut Festival was more meaningful for the purpose of expanding the market for coconut products, technology exchanging, coconut processing, supporting coconut growers, trade promotion and tourism, coconut products advertising in both domestic and foreign regions.
