Wonderful Places For Visiting in Dong Thap
If Dong Thap was famous for the wildness in the past, it now attracts travelers with strange nature and unique landmarks. Dong Thap Muoi lands was famous for being deserted with a vast variety of flowers and plants. It is a world of wild animals such as snakes, turtles, frog mice, birds, crabs and crocodiles.
Nowadays, tourists who visit Dong Thap can return to natural roots with the fresh air, fertile rice fields, enjoying trips on the river to come to the relic of Nguyen Sinh Sac, martyr statue, Go Thap relic area, Kien An Cung ancient architectural monuments, Thap Muoi natural bird park, a garden of rare cranes in Tam Nong, Xeo Quit base, Tan Qui Dong flower village, some orchards in Cao Lanh, Chau Thanh, Lai Vung, Thanh Hung, etc.
1. Nguyen Sinh Sac Relics:
Nguyen Sinh Sac relic which has an area of 3.6 hectares is located in the inner edge of Cao Lanh City. It is the place showing the worship for Nguyen Sinh Sac who was the father of the greatest leader in Vietnam - President Ho Chi Minh. It is built and then inaugurated on December 13th, 1977. It is divided into three areas: the tomb of Nguyen Sinh Sac, Uncle Ho's stilt house and lotus ponds. Inside the tomb has an exhibition of the life of Nguyen Sinh Sac. All the works here not only are featured but also contain profound meaning.
Vaulted tombs, towards the east, are stylized lotus petals which resemble a hand spreading up side down with 9 stylized dragons symbolizing for the protection of Mekong Delta’s people. The tomb is tiled with granite with the rectangular gray grave knob. In front of the tomb's dome is a star-shaped lotus pond in the middle of the lake with a stylized white lotus 6.5 meters high, which symbolize for the pure life of Nguyen Sinh Sac and also the beloved homeland Dong Thap standing uprightly in the heart of Vietnam.

Next to the burial site of Uncle Ho Stilt house which is designed to the same scale with his house in Hanoi, which allows people living in the South can admire Uncle's house. The scenery gives you a relaxed feeling of relief with hundreds of fruit trees, flowers, rare plants that local farmers and others offer.
Every year on October 17th of the lunar calendar, people from everywhere gather to hold the anniversary of Nguyen Sinh Sac in solemn but crowed atmosphere like a great festival with national culture identity.

It offers beautiful natural landscapes with diverse ecosystems of about 130 different plant species. This place is also the habitat of hundreds of species of vertebrate, dozens of species of fish and more than 198 species of waterfowl, accounting for about 1/4 of the bird species found in Vietnam. Among those, there are a large number of species of rare birds such as white-winged duck, te vang, pelicans, gia day Java and especially Sarus Crane, also known as the red-headed crane. They are classified in the Red Book of the world as the birds which must be protected because of the threat of extinction in all over the world. Every year, from late December to early May, the cranes fly to reside at Tram Chim. Coming here at this time, you will see flocks of red-headed cranes flying with other birds to feed.
3. Gao Giong Cajuput Forest:
Being considered as the lungs of the Dong Thap Muoi, Gao Giong cajuput forest has an area of about 1,700 hectares, including 250 hectares of forest, with many strange species growing throughout the year. The majority is thousands of white storks, making the cajuput forest become the biggest Stork Park in Dong Thap Muoi.
In flooding season, in the fields, thousands of white storks flying form a spectacular backdrop. Also, lung sen is the place where gathers thousands of “trich mong do” which sometimes sing and dance together. Coming to Gao Giong, you not only hear birds singing on tree but also hear the nape-touted fish underwater. Fish here is abundant with many species of fish such as catfish, bong fish, etc. especially linh fish from Cambodia Lake which the shoal of them swim into our country.
The most beautiful period in Gao Giong is the flooding season. At that time, water from the Mekong River covers paddies and Gao Giong turns into an oasis with the mixture of green, yellow, purple and pink color of flowers.
Gao Giong is also the jungle of cajuput.
Visitors can enjoy the dishes of the South such as the specialty wine from rice mixed with honey, lie on the hammock swinging, catch the cool wind so that you will feel all the peace, quiet, but unique of Gao Giong ecological tourism. According to the Management Board of Gao Giong, Gao Giong Stork Park has the largest number of white storks in Dong Thap Muoi, especially in this year with thousands of storks nesting.
Oc storks, scientific name is Anastomus oscitans, are weigh between 1 to 1,2kg. This species appear in Vietnam's Red Book as in the edge of extinction. Nowadays, the Management Board is strengthening the protection for rare birds to serve visitors.
To promote the tourism potentials, Dong Thap province makes the tourism development plan in 2015, with the goal that every year it can welcome 2.1 million visitors to this tourist attraction, including 47,000 international visitors, 553 000 domestic tourists, 1.5 million pilgrims and tourism revenue will reach 360 billion dong.
